Transition Overview

The following letter was sent to all buying club coordinators in mid-June 2004.

June 2004

Dear Buying Club Coordinator,

This packet contains essential information for buying clubs serviced by United Natural Foods’ Iowa City and Mounds View warehouses.  If you are not the coordinator of your buying club please pass this along to the correct person, or call us immediately at 800-323-2131, ext 1157.

As you know, we have gradually aligned many policies, procedures and practices with those in effect at other United Natural Foods facilities over the past few months.  The results have included improved in-stocks, increased order accuracy and the expansion of our Iowa City facility which will soon bring you more products than ever before.

The next step is to move onto the computer system used at other United Natural Foods’ facilities.  This is scheduled for the weekend of July 30, 2004.  On Monday August 2 we will begin taking orders on the United system.

Switching to a different computer system brings a number of changes for our customers.  For example, you will have a new account number and place your orders using new product numbers.  Also, in conjunction with the computer system consolidation, we will be completing the process of making policies and procedures consistent with other United Natural Foods facilities.

The enclosed information packet contains important information about this transition for you and your buying club members.  Please share the information with your group, or direct your members to our new buying club website, www.unitedbuyingclubs.com where transition information will be posted.

In July, you will receive a letter with your new account number and your new volume discount.  The August pricelist will contain new item numbers to use when ordering.

We want to thank you for all your work as a buying club coordinator, and let you know that we appreciate the important role you will play in making this transition smooth for the members of your group.  If after reading the enclosed information packet you still have questions, the best way to contact us is by email at bcinfo@unfi.com.

We thank you for your business and look forward to serving your buying club in the future.

Sincerely,

Kelly Lee
